What is a P2P Fundraiser?

A P2P Fundraiser is a supporter who rallies around your cause to fundraise on your behalf. These supporters create their own fundraising page as a spin-off of your main Giving Challenge profile. Your fundraisers will share that page with their network to expand the reach of your cause and bring in new donors. These individuals are passionate about the work you do, and use their voice to make a difference!

Help Us Raise $30,000 for Youth Scholarships

This Giving Challenge, Venice Youth Boating Association is raising $30,000 to fund 20 full scholarships.

And we can’t do it alone.

We’re building a team of Giving Challenge Champions — passionate supporters who will create their own mini-fundraisers and rally friends and family to give.

Because when more people share, more kids get on the water.

Every donation sets sail.

Why Peer-to-Peer Matters

During the 24-hour Giving Challenge:

  • Every unique gift up to $100 is matched by the Patterson Foundation

  • The more donors we have, the greater our impact

  • Personal invitations are the #1 reason people give

When you share why you care about VYBA, people listen.

Your voice can launch a scholarship.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Giving Challenge Champion, you will:

  • Create your personal fundraising page

  • Share your story about why you support VYBA

  • Invite at least 10 friends to donate

  • Post on social media 3 times during the 24-hour event

That’s it.

No cold calls. No selling. Just sharing your passion.

Your Goal = 1 Scholarship

If 15 champions each raise $2,000, we fully fund 20 scholarships.

One small team. One big impact.

Imagine being able to say:

“I helped send a child sailing this summer.”

Who Should Become a Champion?

  • Board members

  • Parents

  • Alumni families

  • Coaches

  • Volunteers

  • Community supporters

  • Anyone who believes no child should be left on land

You don’t have to be a sailor — just someone who believes in opportunity.

What We’ll Provide

We’ll give you everything you need:

  • Ready-to-post social media graphics

  • Sample emails and text messages

  • Impact statistics

  • A personal fundraising link

  • Coaching + encouragement

You won’t be doing this alone.

Why This Matters

Scholarships remove financial barriers.

They build confidence.
They create belonging.
They develop leaders.

They change lives.

And during the Giving Challenge, every unique gift up to $100 is matched — which means your outreach goes twice as far.

Every donation sets sail!

Venice Women’s Sailing Squadron (known as the Bitter Ends)
The Bitter Ends sail every Wednesday morning from September through May and conduct their own "Learn to Sail" program for women beginners who want to learn sailing. We have happily and successfully partnered with the group since 1976.
