·        HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Louisa Nordstrom, of our Green Fleet, who will turn 12 next Tuesday.

·        SCHEDULE:

May 22 – David Swett Memorial Regatta (here, all day) and Green Fleet graduation afterwards

May 29 – Be kind to your boat party and Parents Race (29-30, School’s Out Regatta)

June 5 – First parent orientation of summer learn-to-sail program and summer series, Race 1

June 7 – First session of summer learn-to-sail program begins

June 12 – Summer series, Race 2

June 19 – Summer series, Race 3 (Hibiscus Cup Regatta, Punta Gorda)

·        SCHEDULE COMMENTS:

1.      The David Swett Memorial Regatta schedule will be the same as Crow’s Nest and the Jim Pique Memorial Regatta: 0800, check in; 0900, skippers’ meeting; 1000-1200, racing; 1200-1300, lunch (bring your own); 1300-1600, racing; 1630, awards for regatta and spring series. We have a parent from the RWB Fleet for the race committee, but we need one each from the Green Fleet and the Portsmouth Division to handle flags and help score.

2.      For those not going to the School’s Out Regatta, we will have a “be kind to your boat” party in the morning to prepare for the summer and the annual Parents’ Race in the afternoon.

3.      A Notice of Race for the Hibiscus Cup has not been published yet. We will share when it is.

·        SUMMER PROGRAMS

1.      As in the recent past, our learn-to-sail sessions go from 9 a.m. to 12  and from 1 to 4 p.m.

2.      Blake Waldron will be teaching two 420 classes on June 7-11 and July 5-9. He will have a Laser class June 14-18 and a performance Opti session June 28-July 2  Hours will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for all classes, so bring your lunch. Cost is $150 for each week with a $25 discount for VYBA members. We need a minimum of six to hold each class.

3.      There is no registration, except for non-members. Just call Jabbo or Blake.

·        MISCELLANEOUS

1.      Sailors and parents: please help promote our summer program. Our numbers are down.

2.      Thanks to Celeste Patete for checking and replenishing our three First Aid kits.

3.      If any of you have some old towels, bed linens or other cloth materials, please bring them to the Pram Shed. We are collecting items to take care of animals suffering from the oil spill.
