·        MISCELLANEOUS

1.      Error editor: US Sailing changed the venue for the Level 1 course that Andrew Sosa is taking. It is at Davis Island Yacht Club and he will be doing his second half this coming weekend.

2.      Our summer hours will be a little different from last year. Optimist skippers (Red, White and Blue and former Green Fleeters) will sail from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Portsmouth Division sailors will go from 12 noon to 5 p.m. This will allow time for parent orientation sessions, which start at 9 o’clock, every other Saturday morning. And that is when helper lists will be posted.

3.      The Useppa sweat shirt was claimed. Our sailor paid for it with a bucket of weeds.  However, a load of Lost and Found items, including sailing gloves and caps, went to Goodwill on Apr. 22. We still have a wet suit, spray jacket, two watches, two lunch carriers and a set of keys.

4.      Congratulations to our sailors who crewed for John Lynch and John Thomas in the Venice Sailing Squadron race on May 1 aboard “Summertime”. They were Sara Frajerman, Justin Frow, Courtney Purcell, Stefan Johnson, Garrett Lawlor and Alex Soodak.

5.      Bon Voyage to Louisa Nordstrom who will be racing an Optimist in the Swedish National Championships in Stockholm on June 18-22. She will be using her US 18034 sail and will list VYBA as her home club. Other classes will include the 420, Laser and 29er.

6.      Some sailors have been bringing food from the VYC Tiki Bar to the Pram Shed. That’s fine, but make sure you take the baskets back. Your butlers and maids have resigned and we have taken leftover baskets back for the last time. The next time means no VYC food here.

7.      Sailors and parents: please help promote our summer program. Our numbers are down.

8.      Thanks to Celeste Patete for checking and replenishing our three First Aid kits.
