SCHEDULE COMMENTS

1.      We had 12 sign up for the Valentine’s Regatta in St. Petersburg. Therefore, there will be a boat load this coming Saturday. However, there will be sailing here on Feb. 6, as usual.

2.      Our sign-up deadline for that regatta was Saturday, which was two days after the early bird deadline, which caused some concern among parents and sailors. In the future, we will make sure our deadline is before the discount deadline and hopefully save some money.

3.      Optional sailing is slated for Feb. 15, but we must have six. A sign-up sheet is posted.

MISCELLANEOUS

1.      Have you noticed that many sailors who acquire regatta points are leading their groups?

2.      There will be no “Tell Tales” next week, Feb. 3,  because your erstwhile editor will be attending a US Sailing symposium in Houston, Tex. “Tell Tales” should resume on Feb. 10.

3.      Skippers should not be bringing lacross sticks, guitars, surfboards or any other gear to practice. You should be here to concentrate on improving your sailing skills.

4.      We sent out an address and phone list to members recently. If there are any additions, corrections or deletions, please let us know so we can update the list and redistribute it.

5.      It has been suggested that we have a clean-up day and that is a great idea. Therefore, we have scheduled one for June 5, the Saturday before the summer program begins.

6.      Congratulations again to Andrew Sosa who has been doing a superior job with our website. He has updated our home page and has revised our summer program information.

7.      We have made some calendar changes, thanks to Andrew and his mother. Check it out.

8.      Karen Williams, a member of our board and a sailor with the Bitter Ends, will represent both groups at Florida Sailing Association’s annual meeting in Clearwater on Saturday, Feb. 6.

9.      Lucas Galarza is the proud owner of a brand new International Optimist Dinghy. Way to go.

10.   We have a Useppa Island Club sweat shirt that we will trade for a small bucket of weeds.
