SERIES COMMENTS:

1.      Courtney Purcell and Justin Frow have gained three places in the Green Fleet during the last two weeks, and Jake Hinshaw jumped two spots thanks to his second place finish Saturday.

2.      All the Opti skippers who participated in the team racing mid-winters at St. Petersburg last weekend received regatta points, which is an average of their series scores here to date. That is why there are some decimal places in the standings.

3.      Portsmouth standings remain the same because of a high school regatta last weekend.

REGATTA RESULTS: The Mojos, one of VYBA’s two teams in the team racing regatta, won the eight-team Silver Fleet with a 22-1 record. Our other squad, the A Team, won their division with a 20-0 mark. As a result, Coach John Thomas plans on having a victory party Saturday at 1330 (that’s 1:30 p.m., Sari) The Mojo team consisted of Lucas Galarza, Stefan Johnson, Garrett Lawlor, Stephan VerHulst and Bogan Whitehead. The A Team members were Nick Hernandez, Alexis Jenkins, Louisa Nordstrom, Truett Whitehead and Samantha Wood.

HIGH SCHOOLS: Pine View School was seventh and Venice High came in eighth out of the 11 schools that participated in the sixth south points trophy race at Coconut Grove last weekend. Practice sessions here have been moved from Tuesdays to Wednesdays because of Coach Blake Waldron’s class schedule. The next regatta is slated for Jensen Beach on Feb. 27.
