3.      If you plan on racing in Sarasota’s Labor Day Regatta, you must sign up before Aug. 22.

·        SERIES COMMENTS:

1.      The throw out was your highest score which was probably a day when you were absent. Michelle has been receiving regatta points because she has been racing in New Jersey. However, the Cape May Regatta was washed out and she could not compete. Thus, she received absentee points, which is mute since that became her throw out for the series.

2.      Blake Erquiaga was listed in the Optimist Fleet for the summer series, but has become owner of a Laser and sailed it last Saturday. He will be in Portsmouth for the Fall series.

3.      A couple of Portsmouth Division skippers are sailing 4.7’s whereas the rest of the fleet consists of Radials. Lasers are scored in one group because we do not have enough to divide the fleet. However, starting with the Fall Series, we will keep track of times and possibly score 4.7’s according to Portsmouth rules. Warning: 4.7’s have to give time to Radials.

·        PAUL THORPE has been named as chairman of the annual dinner that will be at the Venice Yacht Club some time after the shutdown period, which is scheduled for Aug. 9-25.

·        BROKEN GEAR: When you break something, please tell Jabbo or at least leave him a note that day. He cannot fix it or replace it if he does not know about it. Don’t wait until the next week.
