SATURDAY: Capt. John Thomas made arrangements for the Portsmouth and RWB
sailors to go on a big boat for the Venice Sailing Squadron’s regular monthly
regatta in the Gulf of Mexico. The boat is John Lynch’s “Summertime”. Those participating
were Carla Johnson (who went as a high school sailor), Stefan Johnson, Paul
Kreider, Evan Langer, Cara Patete, Andrew Sosa, Michelle Thomas, Sami Tornese
and Stephan VerHulst. They won both races. Congratulations.
· TAMPA
REGATTA: Only five Optimist skippers have signed up for the School’s Out
Regatta, which will be at Tampa’s Davis Island Yacht Club. We need nine and the
deadline is Saturday.
· SPECIAL
SESSIONS: We have seven checks for 420 class, which runs June 1-12, and therefore
it is a go. Those seven are Scott Trecartin, Stephan VerHulst, Sami Tornese,
Samantha Wood, Paul Kreider, Lucas Galarza and Garrett Lawlor. However, Alicia
Muscato is the only sailor to officially sign up for the performance Opti
session. The VYBA board of directors agreed to extend the deadline, but unless
three more register by May 15, we will have to cancel the course.

COMMENTS: Last Saturday, only the Green Fleet had a series race because many
RWB Fleet and Portsmouth Division skippers were sailing on “Summertime”,
mentioned above. The current standings also reflect a couple of corrections
made to last week’s published scores.
· MISCELLANEOUS:
1.
Good fitness makes better athletes. Yes, as a sailor, especially
a competitive sailor, you are an athlete. Besides that, good fitness even makes
better chess players.
2.
Add Mariah Miller to our summer sailing counselor list.
3.
For future reference, please do not leave money for the VYBA at
the yacht club. Either mail it or deliver it to us at the Pram Shed. It is not
the VYC’s responsibility to handle our money.
4.
Would someone please take down the rest of the Christmas lights
on the Pram Shed?
