TELL TALES (May 27, 2009)

·         HAPPY BIRTHDAY:  T.C. Liming will turn 13 on Saturday and Alex Soodak will be 14 on June 3.

·         SCHEDULE:   

May 30 – First parent orientation, sailing counselor training, change sails and some racing

June 1 – Learn to sail sessions begin

June 6 – Summer Series race 1

June 13 – Summer Series race 2

June 20 – Hibiscus Cup Regatta, Punta Gorda

June 27 – Summer Series race 3

·         TAMPA REGATTA: Alicia Muscato competed in the School’s Out Regatta in Tampa last weekend. The RWB had only one race and that was on Saturday. Officials results have not been posted..

·         THIS SATURDAY:

1.       0900 -- The first parent orientation for the summer program starts.

2.       0945 -- A training session for summer sailing counselors. Anyone who wants to help out this summer needs to attend this meeting. It should last about 45 minutes. A sign-up sheet for the first two weeks of learn to sail will be posted for counselors and parents of the day.

3.       1030 – Optimist sailors will prepare their reassigned boats for the summer.

4.       1100 – Portsmouth Division skippers be at the Pram Shed to have Spring Series Race No. 7.

5.       1300 – VYBA’s annual Parents Races will start. Sailors will coach their parents.

·         BOAT ASSIGNMENTS: Here are the new boat assignments which will be good through the summer and possibly longer. Numbers that do not change will be designated with an asterisk.

1.       Green Fleet boats 25 through 36 will be used for the summer learn to sail program.

2.       Although Evan, Cara, Carla, Toussaint and Blake are listed, they will be moving up to the Portsmouth Division before the end of the calendar year, freeing up those Optimists.

1.       These are the final results for the Optimist classes. The Green Fleet scores include a throw out since that group had seven races. RWB had only six races and therefore no throw-out.

2.       Portsmouth Division has one more race slated (Saturday) so that fleet can have a throw-out.

·         MISCELLANEOUS

1.       The 420 class is full, with 12 sailors, and the Performance Opti session has only four sailors.

2.       Since no one volunteered to wash the blade bags, they went to the Wash House today.
