·         REGATTA COMMENTS:

1.       All scores included a throw out since we had 10 races.

2.       T.C. Liming won the tie-breaker with Shaun Gallagher for the fifth place trophy .

3.       Lucas Galarza chose to leave after six races, although he was in second place, because a sister was visiting from out of town. He was scored DNS (Did Not Start) in the last four races.

4.       Michelle Thomas retained her Portsmouth Division championship. Stephan VerHulst, who won the Green Fleet competition last year, placed second in Red, White and Blue this year.

5.       Both Optimist fleets raced as one class but officials scored them separately.

6.       There were some great starts. No one was OCS and officials did not have to use the “I” flag.

7.       There were some very close finishes, especially involving Alicia, Garrett and Stephan.

8.       Conni Muscato provided two boxes of cupcakes for all the sailors. Thank you very much.

9.       Some tips for future reference:

a.       Stay off the course after you’ve finished. Do not come back through the start/finish line.

b.      Try to avoid over standing the windward mark or the finish line.

c.       You should not ask the race committee whether or not you are over the line at the start.

d.      Some sailors insist on sitting in the back of their boats. That will not help their scores.

·         TAMPA REGATTA: Alicia Muscato will compete in the School’s Out Regatta in Tampa this weekend. She is the only one who will be flying the VYBA burgee. We wish her the best.

·         SPECIAL SESSIONS: We now have 11 checks for 420 classes. Add Shaun Gallagher and Cara Patete to the list that was published last week. There is only one opening left. In the performance Optimist class, Shaun made the fourth and the program will take place.

·         LOST AND FOUND: A bag full of clothes moved from our Lost and Found to the Goodwill Store in the Rialto Shopping Center on Apr. 30 as promised. The next contribution is slated for Jun. 11.

·         BOAT ASSIGNMENTS: New assignments will be listed in next week’s issue of “Tell Tales”.
