·         OUR REGATTA: As of this morning, we have 37 entries (16 of which are VYBA skippers) and we don’t expect to reach our record number of 99 boats that we had last year. Don’t forget to go to our registration desk there. Make sure you are on our list, pick up your sailing instructions and grab your goodies bag. Registration starts at 0800 and the skippers’ meeting is slated for 0900.

·         ALICIA WINS: Alicia Muscato entered the annual Mount Dora Regatta this past weekend and not only beat 13 other boats to capture the Optimist crown, but won the Commodore’s Cup as the youngest winning skipper in the all class event. There were eight races, four each day. She sailed to three firsts, a second, two thirds and two fourths to tie for first with a skipper from the Lake Eustis Sailing Club. However, Alicia won the tie-breaker. She was the mystery guest and all the kids wanted to know who she was especially after she started sailing and winning.

·         BLAKE’S BEE: Blake Erquiaga won the geography bee at the Epiphany School and then took a test to qualify for the state finals. He beat out 1,000 school winners to make it to the round of 100 at the state competition which was held at Jacksonville University last weekend. Last year’s winner won again by answering, “Which Asian country is known as the Land of Morning Calm?” correctly. Anyone know the answer? Anyone want to guess? Check the bottom of this page.
