THANKSGIVING REGATTA: In spite of the exorbitant fees, our board decided Tuesday night to keep the “key” status for this regatta. This means three coaches and five trailers are going and we need trailer pullers. So far, six Green fleeters, three RWB sailors and three Portsmouth skippers have signed up and our deadline is Saturday. The three Laser skippers (Paul, Cara and Carla) can use the 9-boat trailer. If any other Laser sailor(s) register, you can work out the transportation among yourselves. There are only three spots left on the 12-boat trailer and they will go on a first come basis, regardless of Optimist fleet. Higher rates go into effect on Nov. 20.

FINAL FALL SERIES STANDINGS:

Green Fleet: 1, Louisa Nordstrom, 25; 2, Bogan Whitehead, 26; 3, Truett Whitehead, 27;  4, Justin Frow, 42; 5, Alexis Jenkins, 45; 6, Nicolas Hernandez, 47; 7, John Light, 50; 8, Brianna Trecartin, 52; 9.Garver Whitehead, 58; 10, Jacob Hinshaw, 68; 11, Evan Dietrich, 72; 12, Courtney Purcell, 78; 13, Nicholas Etz, 78; 14, Sara Frajerman. 90.

Red, White and Blue Fleet: 1, Stephan VerHulst, 20; 2, Lucas Galarza, 21; 3, Garrett Lawlor, 27; 4, Samantha Wood, 32; 5, Stefan Johnson, 36; 6, Scott Trecartin, 38; 7, Alex Soodak, 48; 8, Shaun Gallagher, 48.6.

Portsmouth Division: 1, Paul Kreider, 6; 2, Sami Tornese, 22; 3, Andrew Sosa, 22; 4, Chloe Dietrich, 24; 5, Tyler Thorpe, 26; 6,  Cara Patete, 26; 7, Carla Johnson, 29; 8, Evan Langer, 30; 9, Blake Erquiaga, 41.

SERIES COMMENTS:  Portsmouth skippers did not have a throw out because they had only five races and our minimum is seven. Both Optimist fleets had nine races and therefore, all sailors were allowed to deduct their worst score. While the throw out tightened the scores, it did not change any positions in the Ernest Green Fleet. However, it did affect the Fall Series crown in the RWB Fleet. Stephan VerHulst had a score of 30, but threw out a 10 (unexcused absence) for a final tally of 20. Lucas Galarza had a 28, but tossed a seven to give him 21 points.

MISCELLANEOUS

1.      Many of our sailors are members of the yacht club and therefore are responsible for your teammates who become your guests. There have been some reports of rude behavior among some of the youngsters. This applies to the high school sailing teams as well.

2.      Winning prize coconuts for the best Halloween costumes were RWB fleeter Garrett “Batman” Lawlor and Courtney Purcell, of the Green Fleet, who was a convincing pirate.
